HI! Let me introduce myself.
I grew up in a family deep in the travel industry. Grandpa was an aviation mechanic, and I have several uncles and cousins who are commercial pilots, and several cousins who are private pilots. My dad worked Operations for Northwest Airlines and retired as the Senior Operations Manager for NWA at SeaTac International Airport. Even today, my youngest son is in training to be an aviation mechanic and has his private pilot's permit.
Travel is in my blood and my wanderlust started in my early teens (mid-1980s) during long road trips throughout Oregon, California, and Washington State. My thirst for knowledge & adventure led to my appointment as the family "navigator" and I was charged with finding the most interesting points and places to stop at while we were on the road.
Imagine doing that without a cell phone or the internet! When we weren't road tripping during the summer- you could find me at the library researching fun places to stop and visit while on our next adventure. Soaking up travel magazines like "Sunset" and Sunday newspaper inserts, researching the history of particular areas - One memory that stands out is California Highway 49, along the foothills of Sierra Nevadas, learning about the gold strike of 1849 and visiting the historic gold mines, hotels and historic downtowns, and all the lore along the route from Placerville to Yellowstone, and Calaveras County (Mark Twain's cabin!) in between.
Fast forward 10 years later and I am stationed in Germany after joining the Army as a military linguist. Every weekend was an adventure - and I was amazed that after growing up in the Pacific Northwest, who knew that a 2 or 3 hour ride in Europe would put you IN A DIFFERENT COUNTRY? I was hooked. My 20 year Army career took me from upstate New York to Wiesbaden, Germany; from Fort Lewis, Washington to Daegu, South Korea; and from southern Arizona to Maryland. I've been to 45 of the 50 states (and that's not just an airport!), uncountable times to both Canada and Mexico. Since retirement, my personal, educational, and professional journeys have taken me back to Europe - Italy, Greece, UK, Ireland; down south on cruises and all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean and Costa Rica; up to Alaska's Glacier Bay, and soon over the Pacific to the Philippines, Tahiti, Fiji, New Zealand and Australia.
After I retired from the Army, I earned my degree and decided to go into business for myself - by the time I decided to dive into the travel business, I had already owned, operated, and shut down two businesses. My partner and I moved onto a 14 acre farm in 2017 with alpacas, emus, peafowl, a myriad of other barnyard birds, and of course dogs and cats. In 2022 we added reindeer to the crew and we started a new business sharing holiday magic with others renting out the reindeer for holiday events in the local area.
I decided to go into the travel planning business during the pandemic, when I realized screen-time fatigue would become real. It’s safe to say that screens are here to stay, and with remote and hybrid work becoming more common, many of us really do feel that screen fatigue. If this sounds all too familiar, I get it—managing screen time is no easy task! But here’s the good news: as a travel advisor, I’m here to give your brain (and your eyes) a break. Let me take on the heavy lifting of research, planning, and booking your next adventure. Whether you’re craving a tropical escape, a relaxing road trip, or a cultural deep dive, I’ll handle every detail so you can step away from the screen and dive into something real.
Think of me as your vacation concierge—I'll make sure your only task is deciding what drink to sip poolside. 🌴
